What does the ? symbol mean if it appears in the upper right of a brush icon

What does that question mark indicate.

Thanks

Hi Susan,

That’s a puzzle, I’ve not seen it before. Where did you save the custom brush you created?

I have all my custom brushes in the Zdata/Brush presets folder.

This particular brush is a modification of the standard ClayBuildup brush.

I was recently using your retain recent brush size script to make some buttons to put in custom palettes so that when I use those brushes they would retain their last used size. This worked well, except for my custom claybuild up brush. In trying to figure out the problem, I found that even the original claybuild up brush did not work and I did notice that some how, the original Zbrush claybuild up brush had switched its icon to the one I made for my custom claybluid up brush, so I replace it from the Zdata/Brush presets folder with a back up copy and the icon then changed back to the standard Zbrush icon. After doing this I noticed this ? mark in the icon.

I did get the macro to work for a custom claybuildup brush by finally recreating it from scratch, and now that brush that has the ? mark works fine with the macro.

So all is good now, but the case Mystery Question Mark remains.

Thanks

I think I’d move your custom brushes to the ZStartup\BrushPresets folder. I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to add brushes into the ZData\BrushPresets. That might just be part of the problem. Your brushes will still be available whenever you start ZBrush.

Otherwise I really don’t know what caused the change.

I moved all my custom brushes to the Start up folder. and after doing that the ? disappeared from the icon.

Thanks.
