This may seem like an esoteric question, but what make a mesh a ‘Fibermesh’ type in zbrush ?
The mesh itself is large arrays of polygons strips, which can be exported and reimported onto the tool as OBJ. Is there a way to externally create polygonal strips afresh (ie in Maya) and import them to be ‘Fibermesh’ type ? Is it an internal tag ?
In ZBrush, they’re parametric, I’d say(you can adjust lots of properties, shows up in certain render and can later be converted to geometry. You can bring in an obj but you won’t have the attributes you want.
Doug is correct. Also there is a lot we can do with Fibremesh, such as playing with the settings and generating plane strips to use as (non-Fibremesh) hair. It gives an alternative to manually making planes and duplicating them 1,2,4,8 etc.
