What affect has ZBrush had on your professional work practice?

Hi All,

I am doing a presentation for film school on ZBrush and its affect on the practitioner.

Personally ZBrush has had a huge affect on me as a filmmaker as it has reinvigorated my interest in 3D and I was wondering what it effect it has had on those of you who work within the industry, either as an independant practitioner or as someone who works for a production house.

I would love it if you could give me a short explanantion as to how ZBrush has changed and enhanced your perpective and workflow within your chosen fields.

In my opinion Zbrush has changed the way I think about 3D. My earlier experiments with the medium led me to think that perhaps I had chosen the wrong career path, until ZBrush graced the scene. I believe it has empowered the independant film maker to produce extremely high detail characters that essentially rival that of high budget productions, of course based on the skill of the user.

I’m also interested in the effect it has had on those of you who come from a more sculpture based, realworld (practical??) background. (Rick Baker, Joe Seigenthaler and others, I’m looking at you  )

Many thanks in advance.

Hmmm, just thought I’d post again to bump this thread forward. Please comment if you work in the games/film industry and use ZBrush in your work practice. Doesn’t have to be an essay, a short paragraph would be fine

Cheers

you might be better off reading the articles on pixologic.com they have some bios of artists talking about their zbrush use. im sure you will need to ask for permission and all that.

Gives me gas.

Okay, Abnoid, thanks for the help. I’ll do that.

bicc39: …okay then, hope that all works out for you.

Hey, another person is doing a project like mine. I am doing a similar project at Purdue and trying to convince our department to buy licenses for next semester. I am currently working on a comparative quantitative study of creating models in maya vs zbrush, the exact same ones from a reference and looking at the time differences and quality. My team also interviewed and surveyed a lot of professionals in industry. My best advice is look on the pixologic website, but also find people in the forum who are willing to help. I found a good number in here just had to find the right people. If you would like to talk more to me about it IM me at Dom842003 on AIM. I am truly passionate about ZBrush and what it can do for artists so I would love to help in anyway I can.

Okay, Thanks mate. We had to convince the powers that be to get a few ZBrush licences as well but the work that’s being done this year is showing the benefit of it. I have to give my talk on this coming monday so I’ve cut it a bit fine, I’ve been absolutely swamped with creating my film. Thankyou for your reply and you may well here from me over the weekend.

Good luck with securing those licences

It changed my life completely

A guy who was going nuts trying to learn maya and max and failing in it continously, got hold of zbrush and launched his own venture within 6 months.

I dont say I am the best here but I have learned good enough and all by browsing through these forums and asking questions. No one teaches zbrush in my country and it is very difficult to learn online. Yes it has changed my life and now I hope to continue with my comics every two months and reach out to thousands of people all over the world.

Zbrush is great. ****** 6 out of 5 stars

Zbrush was a revolution, make my work more intuitive and natural, and allowed me to achieve the highest level of detail I wanted.

Now I really in 3d all the details I want of an object, in realtime. No more play with bump or any faking.

It also had a huge impact in the whole cg industry, video games or cinema.
