Looking very good! :+1: The only crit that I would have is that the legs seem too short for the body, and if you check, the total height of the figure is only 7 heads high. If that was intentional, then please disregard my crit.

Wow! I recognized him immediately. I was about to ask you until I saw his title. Great job on the details.

very cool !

I think his legs are the right length…it’s the pants that have wrong for the past few years. Everybody’s legs look too short.

Hello there fellas,

many thanks for your kind replys!
the proportions are a little bit exaggerated…
i corrected the pants a little bit and gave him further knifes.
just one last detailing-pass and i can go to texture.

hope you like it.

hey there people,

i am finally done with modelling!
now its time to texture.

i added some closeups. i tried to get very close to the original.

btw: its all done completely inside zbrush… no other app needed for modeling… with shadowbox and zspheres its,… just amazing…

hope, you like it

after some serious trouble with my system (defect graphics card) and a long time of abstinence i finally had time to retopo machete.
the first part of retopo is done… next step is giving him hair…

finally i did the step to low-poly (he has 17k tris for now), and now i want to bring him into the udk. thats my problem with giving him hair… optimized for the udk its hard to find a simple way.
anyway, i am happy to have a working pipeline!
still some work with his weapons.

btw this are 3ds max viewport shots

please tell me what you think.

Hey Guys,

i brought Machete into the UDK and it works with all the stuff…
of course it has much room for improvement, but the first and most important step is done: understanding!

btw. i made the barrels and stones inside zbrush, just to practice my pipeline.

hope you like it.

getting deeper inside low-poly techniques, skinning, morph-targets and such stuff… i am learning a lot during these low-poly tests.
yeah, still a lot to do… especially the hair.

i am trying to stay as low as possible in the polycount.
btw: these are 3ds max viewport grabs

phew, this is really time consuming… but hey, who needs sleep? still dreaming of getting into the industry one day… so i need a demo-reel… so i need some rigged and posed low-poly characters rendered in marmoset or udk… WORK WORK WORK… beside my apprenticeship…

if you have some tips, i would love to read them…

Hey there,

working on some stuff to bring it together in a showreel.
rigged and posed with the original ut-skeleton.
these are viewport-renders out of the udk.

still much space for improvement but i am working at it.
if you have some tips, let me know!

hello there!

after i successfully tested my “showreel-setup” for machete i decided to render the other characters in this style, too.
composed them in a showreel hoping to get a job in the industry with it.

there are four illustrations in there, too.
hope, you like it.

it’s better to watch it in hd on youtube… :stuck_out_tongue:

If your going to use that showreel to get a job, then you won’t get anywhere with it.

For starters a showreel should be a maximum of 2 min’s and 30 seconds, no longer, employers dont have the time to sit through 6 mins

Your using udk for your turntables which is good, but then your using fraps to record which is bad and also if you look it lighting needs to be rebuilt which is pretty bad also, it’s all in the presentation you know and yours is not up to scratch and wont get you a job

The best Idea would be to use Marmoset toolbag as thats an amazing piece of kit but if your going to stick with UDK then learn how to use Kismet

I could go on more but I’ve prob said enough for you to go on with for the moment.

hey sparky

many thanks for your suggestions!! i will definitely shorten it!
i will throw my eye on the marmoset toolbag!
many thanks again!

please tell me me if you think the models are quality enough to use them in a showreel!
