Of Harry Potter (the movie)? It lived up to my expectations pretty well. I thought the acting/actors were great. Compare Harry with Anikan , and of course Snape was amazing… “Our new celebrity…”. Good music, scenes, it followed the book…
So i liked it a good amount. I hope LOTR does as well. Have any of you seen it?
I haven’t seen it yet. But I’ll be seeing it an hour or two from now.
I saw HP yesterday. I thought that it was extremely well done. The special effects, while plentiful, were never allowed to get in the way of or upstage the story.
Muvlo is absolutely correct: the actors were all perfect for their roles. If you know the books, you’ll usually know who someone is even before they are actually named. My personal favorite (I have no idea why) was Madame Hooch.
The story did indeed parallel the book very well. If fact, I’m glad that it didn’t stay even truer to the source material. At nearly 2 1/2 hours, it was quite long enough. Since this was the shortest book of the lot, I shudder to imagine the knightmares that they will have to go through in order to get Goblet of Fire down to a reasonable viewing length. Of course, the first cut of Titanic weighed in at 9 hours. By the time 2/3 of that was on the cutting room floor, it still wound up being a respectable film…
Anyway, my opinion (for what it’s worth) is that the movie may have slightly fallen short of the hype, but was still well worth the price of admission and time to watch. WELL worth it! As opposed to Episode One, which didn’t even come close to the hype. Oh, and speaking of which, the full preview for Episode Two, which is in front of Harry Potter, looks great!
They didn’t show the Ep2 Trailer, which is why I went to see the movie!! Oh well, the movie was really good, I never read the books so I have nothing to compare it with. The kids I took to see it absolutely loved it.
I’ll be waiting for the payperview on cable for this one.
No offense, but a theatre full of screaming yapping kiddies isn’t my genre anymore. (I paid my dues at the Disney alter over the years.)
But I am looking for to seeing the FX.
Actually, Kathy, the kids were really quiet all the way through the movie. I was expecting it to be bad, too, and was pleasantly surprised.
Of course, here in Vegas parents use muzzles. (just kidding)
I was really surprised how quiet it was too. The kids were enthralled!
Well THAT is a testiment to the movie and the book. I’m impressed. Maybe I’ll take a drive by tomorrow afternoon, and if the coast looks clear…
Right clicking “save target as” on THIS link should download the full 30 meg Starwars ep2 trailer if you are interested. Though I think you have to have the registered full version of QT 5.2. I have and it works fine.

I just got back from it and I loved it! I’m glad I didn’t get through the book all the way through to the end before I saw it, since the ending took me by suprise. I thought it was perfectly cast as well. My favorites being Allen Rickman, Robbie Coltrain, the kid that played Ron and the one giving the broom flying lessons.
I loved the set design and prop design as well. I keep thinking about that collectable card that Harry got with the 3d image on it.
The kids were pretty quiet where I was too with the exception of a crying baby. Most of the noise was from adults with cell phones.
Anyway the movie gets a definate
from me.
I saw it openning day. I liked the film…not a masterpiece but a nice little flick. I don’t have the patience to sit and read the books though! I was, however, impressed with the creature CG animation for the 3-headed dog. not bad!
ps. I still dig Monster’s Inc. the most!
Whow! This film earned 93 million (US) in 3 days! It cost 125 mill to make, and 40 million spent on promotion! (not sure if the 40 came out of the 125?)
Well, thats what I heard. Correct me if I’m wrong. (Time to change jobs!)

It gets better. Pepsi spent $140 million for the right to use it in their advertising. So it almost paid for itself before a single ticket was sold.
I just had a twisted thought on the way to work this morning. What would Harry Potter had been like if David Lynch directed it?
