Weird remeshing - ?

After creating a simple 3d sphere turning it into a polymesh and remeshing it directly afterwards I get this strange looking sphere (attachment). Why is that?
This happens with a mint Zbrush 4R7 installation having tweaked nothing whatsoever.

Thank you for your kind help!

Remeshing is normally used with a combination of subtools to create booleans such as described here:
http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/3d-modeling/modeling-basics/creating-meshes/remeshing/remesh-subtools/

Remeshing doesn’t necessarily create the best topology. Depending on what you wish to achieve, you would normally use DynaMesh (for freeform shape explorations while maintaining even topology) or ZRemesher (creating a low resolution base mesh with good topology flow before UV mapping & reprojecting sculpting details, etc.).
