Way to crop images inside spotlight?

Hi, Is there a good way to essentially crop images that are already loaded into spotlight?

Or some other workaround that allows one to make only a portion of a spotlight image really large, but keep the rest of the workspace image-free?

I often have good reference images loaded into spotlight, but decide to work on certain features zoomed in without any other parts of the image covering the model.

I have been cropping outside of zbrush then reloading the cropped image into spotlight.

Duplicating the image inside spotlight, and painting the unwanted area black (to make it transparent), works, but it’s a bit of effort. Painting it black with control-drag is interesting, but unpredictable.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thank you!
