Warlord character

Hello! This is my personal project for study of current gen characters.
I use software: PS, Zbrush, DeepPaint, ShaderFX
Lowpoly 26657 tris; textures main 2048x2048, hair and eyelashes 1024x1024, sword 512x512 ; highpoly about 17m poligons.
All of textured screenshot is raw grab of 3dsmax viewports, no post fx and non realtime renders :wink: .

Nice modeling and it looks well done. But i have a few crits.

First off 27k is way to high for a Current gen character (i’m talking 360 / ps3)
Yeah sure these consoles can handle it when thats the only thing animated on screen. But when you throw in dynamics, environments, AI, other characters. 9 - 14k i think is a reasonably high enough # to get a great looking character for a current gen title.

Also your texture maps… 1024 for eyelashes? That’s huge. I think it seems to be a current trend for people to just be making huge maps for no reason.

Also i think your modeling is well done and looks great for mesh flow, but the character does nothing for me, he looks very generic and not like a hero of a game.

Over all though some great modeling and well done!

Nice job. If you are looking for feedback, this is what I have. I like the armor although it feels a bit plastic to me, The character looks out of proportion. His arms I agree, are too short. Typically if the arm is hanging down to the side the finger tips would touch mid thigh, his look like they would just clear his belt. Maybe it is just the pose, but it does appear they are short.

He comes across as a valiant apprentice or side kick to what would be the main character. Holy short arms batman! Otherwise I love the armored shirt. he might want some loops in his pants to have the belt actually provide some purpose. Good thing his boots don’t have laces or he would never seen them through his chest plate.

Great job overall!! keep it up.

Oh, a good work man. You should to get a bit attention on the human anatomy. I mean biceps, triceps an huiceps.))
Anyway your present work looks almost perfect!

Thank you for feedbacks, guys. Jsnyder, i keep in mind games for PC or fighting games (such as Soul Calibur) for consoles , i think 27k it is no economic budget but no expensive. 1024 textures it is for hair AND eyelashes ( eyelashes is placed in left top corner, all other is two layer of hair).
I agree, it looks some generic, but i not a concept artist, i am character modeller and i show my skill in modeling | texturing ingame characters.

Predator42 i agree you opinion about armor,c but realtime shaders are so difficult to tweak for me ((

Fantastic work:+1: I would love to see some Zbrush WIP images, the subtools, polypainting etc.

Id say that its way unnecessary too high even for a next gen console.
5,000 poly should be more than reasonable.
Even in Metal gear 4, their model aren`t that dense and they lowered the resolution to 512.
