some extras i worked on to make a second version as an undead warrior later
Try doing things top-to-bottom, that is, don’t go down to details before having major body parts sufficiently defined, in this case the chest. I also wouldn’t do the human calf like you did, it makes little anatomycal sense. If you check some references of human-poultry hybrids you’ll noticed it’s preferrable to have a horse or goat-like leg from the knee downwards.
Just a couple suggestions, keep on it
those are great crits, and thank you for them:)
i think you are right about the chest. i knew i was going to have him in a tunic for the final so i kinda limped my way thru chest detail. you can tell there are allot of things im still making my mind up on as i go.
think i like the calf though , didn’t want him to feel like he was going to topple over… cause i made him kinda…um beefy?

Looks nice! Like a lot the fur you made around his hoofs! Like the hammer too.
Personnaly I think you should make the tail longer, right now it is really short.
I would also make the head a little bit bigger, because now it seems like the neck is waaaay bigger than the head. Anyway those are my comments, continue the good work!
some armor

Looking pretty good so far. You should post that front view with perspective turned on as I suspect some of the awkardness of it is a result of the forced perspective view.
I’ve got a similar project in the works myself of a troll, but you’re definitely further along than me in the process
Everything is coming along great. But from the front view that hammer isnt being utilized as well as it should. I would change its angle so we can get a hint from the side a bit.
Very Cool.
he’s comming along.
your right the hammer gets to be very stagnant from a head on view.
i will see about giving it a twist and livening it up some.
i will post a perspective cammer veiw also and see it that helps the rear leg read clearer… if not i may have to move it a little more to convey a more dynamic pose.
thanks guys

Thats a much better pose. Good job!
I still feel there’s some major style and detailing inconsistency across the model. Check the model’s face definition (those are muscles after all) compared to the arms definition. Hands also seem a bit too curvy and dull compared to the overall character’s style. The armor pends to the realistic and most of the body leans towards the cartoony, something doesn’t quite match there.
Sorry to sound over-critic, I’m really just trying to help. Personally I think “wows” and “cools”, albeit cool for the ego-massage effect that we all need as artists, doesn’t push our skills forward at all
thanks DAnconia i think the sugestions you guys had really helped me repose this guy well.
Maddox thanks… crits help!!
i didnt totaly see that till you brought it up… not sure how to unifi the styles yet… but now i see it.
i think i’m aiming for inbetween real and cartoon… kind of the blizzard cinimatic feel… i know i have not visited the face after the initial block in (an atempt at loosesing up really) then i kinda got afraid of… if that makes sense.
and i still need to go back to the hands.
but your right he needs a little more thought to his final look and style.
