First up a space-faring, mean son-of-a-*****, pig/ dog/ human mix… ticks all the boxes!

Next up is a bird-like creature. Cruel and wiley, this race has lost it’s ability of flight and so wears ornamental headresses adorned with feathers to remind them of there ancestory and lineage.

Great stuff. I especially love the bird creature. Can you tell us a bit about the how you did the hair for that one?

@alannoon - The bird-creature is rendered inside 3DSMAX and the hair is made using the HAIR AND FUR modifier. I used the lowest subdivision ZBRUSH model, which I UV’d and made invisible, to “grow” the hair from and painted a greyscale texture map to control the length and density of the hair to give it a natural feel. Finally a little bit of “kink” and “frizz” was added using the appropriate controls in the HAIR AND FUR modifier.

Cool, thanks for the info. I too, am a 3dsmax user. I asked because I have had mixed results with Hair&Fur: all the way from “awesome” to “doesn’t work.” 
No idea how to edit the thread title to something more appropriate for all my ZBRUSH sketches

Great detailing over great forms. Love them all, they show you’ve got great range.
One question though. Why do people sculpt figures with their eyes closed? Its like looking at a picture in the family photo album where someone accidently shut their eyes right as the picture was being taken. It drives me crazy The only time I want to see someone with their eyes closed is if it is a sculpture of someone sleeping, or someone wincing.

bLawless - The character has his eyes closed as he’s just about to sneeze of course! The character is meant to be a mystic occultist deep within concentration in a meditative trance or magical attack - so asleep but straining with the intensity of the task - hope this answers your question!
