Wacom settings issues

Hey folks. I’m using a Cintiq-16, and can’t seem to get things set up well with ZBrush. I’m just getting back after years away from it, and I think I had a similar problem years back with an older Cintiq but can’t remember how to fix it properly.

Basically, I’m unable to get any pressure sensitivity unless I’ve got Windows Ink off, and Stylus API on in ZB. When I do that pressure starts working but the performance with the menus, etc., are awful. For example, trying to use the sliders is near impossible because they stick and lag. They don’t do this with any other API selected, or with the mouse. With those other API settings (with Windows Ink toggled on or off), then the menus work fine but there’s no sensitivity at all.

Wacom Driver should be up to date, driver number is 6.3.44-3

Anyone got a clue how to fix it?

Thanks

Hello @Nocturnal

Issues with Windows Ink are not unusual, and it is generally recommended to disable it with Wacom products, but experiences vary:

There’s not enough information here for me to do much with. I don’t know anything about your devices or the environment you are using them in. You would need to contact Pixologic Support for us to examine the problem at greater depth with more information about your installation. However, you should also be prepared for us to refer you to Wacom support if we determine that ZBrush is otherwise in good working order on your system.

However, I can give you some general tips.

  1. Completely uninstall/reinstall the device drivers. If the current drivers don’t work, try some earlier versions.

  2. ZBrush supports the WinTab api. Make sure that you are installing drivers that support this. This is typically not an issue with Wacom devices.

  3. There are known issues with having multiple tablets plugged into the same machine, or having tablet drivers from different manufacturers installed on the system.

  4. Conflicts with other novel input devices can happen. If you have any other input devices fancier than a traditional mouse installed, you may want to unplug these at the very least, or uninstall them altogether to check for conflicts.

  5. Sometimes a Wacom driver will install with a very firm “tip feel” which will diminish pressure sensitivity. Likewise, a very soft tip feel can have the same result. So in the scenarios where you describe performance as being normal but with no pressure sensitivity, adjust the Tip Feel in your Wacom configuration utility either up or down, and see if this results in a change. It may not be the case that you have no pressure sensitivity, but rather that you have very little pressure sensitivity at the current settings.

If nothing above is helpful, please contact Pixologic Support for further assistance.

Thank you!

Thank you very much. I’ll go through all your suggestions over the weekend, and if it is still acting strangely I’ll contact support with a breakdown of what’s on my system.

Thanks again.
