Wacom Intuos 4 LG/Macintosh

Has anyone used the Wacom Intuos 4 med or large with ZBrush? I am thinking of getting the Inturos 4 large but I have been told that the med is adequate. I also want to be sure that they work fine with ZBrush (and the Mac with Snow Leopard). Any pros or cons on either?

I use the small Intuos 4 on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. I prefer the small size just because I don’t need that much real estate to draw on. Performance-wise, I have no complaints at all, works like a gem. The only thing that irks me is that a couple of the buttons that I always have mapped to “undo” and “re-do” keep defaulting back to the factory presets after I turn my computer off.

Also, if you ever used the Intuos 3, the drawing surface on the Intuos 4 has changed. It’s rougher to (I think) give the feel of a paper texture. You’ll notice the surface gets a bit more marked up by the stylus. It doesn’t affect the performance at all (at least not on mine yet) it’s just different than the earlier models. I’d definitely recommend getting one though.

i use the medium one with leopard and i love it. you don’t need anything bigger for zbrush.

the problems with the button settings can be fixed by replacing the com.wacom preferences with the older preferences… or vice versa, i forgot. but there is also now an updated driver for SL - i haven’t had any problems.

the surface is a big differences. it gives you more contro imo due to the traction, but it wears out your nibs very fast. but i’ve noticed on my that the surface is smoothing out with use. the side hot keys are pretty much useless, i prefer to set all my buttons in the Wheel thingy, works pretty much like maya’s context menu

I have a medium since few months (previously I had a Bamboo): it works just fine, the only disappointment I had is that the pen tips actually get worn quickly (I already used 3 in 6 months) …
