Very simple Zbrush to Maya to Zbrush UV's

Hi, I don’t know about most of you, but I’ve had one hell of a time figuring out how to work with UV’s on a mesh that I’ve created in Zbrush. The following is a simple tutorial of an easy process that I just discovered today. for some of you this won’t be a big deal, but for others like me this tutorial is great!

Step 1: Create a model in Zbrush

Step 2: Export to OBJ

Step 3: Import OBJ in Maya

Step 4: Choose Automatic UV mapping within Maya

Step 5: Take a UV snapshot at whichever resolution you like. I personally like a higher resolution texture. 1024, 4096, whichever. Save the UV snapshot on the desktop.

Step 6: Open Photoshop, or some graphic editing software. Flip the UV’s Vertically. Do not Rotate 180 degrees, just flip vertically. Make some markings on the UV’s, whatever you like. Save as Psd format.

Step 7: Open Zbrush, import obj. Load the Psd file as a texture. That is it! Now you can take the model into projection master and paint as much detail as you want and you will have correct UV’s!

uwoooo… that’s crazy, didn’t know about it until today.
Thanks man, even my instructor never tell me about it.
