Very rough edges on model

Hello guys, I need some help. I am newbie in zbrush and in 3D, trying to model the detailed sword and everything goes just fine but this. When I use some custom brushes with blackfacemask on or off it makes very uneven and rough edges on blade. I was trying to fix it with Inflate brush and shift it but it didn’t help. I will be grateful for any help.!
Sculpting on 1640 resolution DynaMesh if it is matter.

Hello @zyzkas ,

While I can’t account for what your custom brush may be contributing to the situation, the edge is probably too thin for the Dynamesh feature, and possibly too thin with poor topology for backface masking to work on it.

Mesh sections that are too thin or 2D will begin to fragment under the Dynamesh process. It needs a closed volume with a certain degree of thickness. I can see this beginning to happen along your edges, and it is creating problematic geometry. Using backface masking along a fine edge like that would be somewhat challenging even with good topology, but the Dynamesh process is probably making the matter worse with complicated normal direction facing. I doubt BFM will be reliable on the very edge of this mesh.

Please note also that Dynamesh is intended as a tool for the rapid development of form, not fine detail. From the first paragraph of the Dynamesh documentation:

DynaMesh has been designed to create low and middle resolution sculpting stages, making it a perfect way to create your base mesh before diving deeper into all the powerful traditional ZBrush sculpting and editing tools.

Once you have developed your form and are ready to start adding fine detail you should transition to a traditional mutli-res sculpting process with good quality topology. It may be necessary to mask or hide the geometry along the edge to target only the side that you want. This will be easier with cleanly defined polygroups, which will in turn be easier to define with well drawn, deliberate topology.

Thank you, Spyndel, multi-res sculpting helped and fixed 70% of my problem. Seems like the only way to fix it entarely is just mask edges of the model…
