Venture Bros. - Brock Samson

Hi guys!

It’s been a while since I last posted, things have been very busy (in a good way) after graduation.

After having seen the hour long season finale of the Venture Bros. last night, I decided that it was finally time to start sculpting Brock Samson. Quite possibly the single most badass character ever created

Here’s the first WIP:

Everything is still very rough, and the final character will be rigged and animated in MAX.

Crits would be appreciated! More shots as I sculpt along sometime soon! GO TEAM VENTURE!

A very good start, can’t wait for the animation!! :+1:

Thank you very much!

I’m looking forward to animating him
Here’s another quick WIP shot (am roughing in more of his facial proportions):

Awesome! I love the realistic feel you’re giving him. But in term of proportions, I think his face is way more stylized than his body at the moment.

But keep up the good work! What’s the animation going to be, a Rusty Venture :stuck_out_tongue:

ROFL! Let’s hope not! (Although we never did find out what it really was). I was thinking more in terms of Brock vs. Henchmen or Brock vs. Crocodile.

The body is pretty much untouched (other than overall proportions), I tend to work from the head down. (I know this is not really the way I should sculpt; as I should be thinking more in terms of overall shape, but I kind of like doing it… guilty pleasure. lol)

I think I’m shooting more for Brock as he is portrayed in the paint/watercolor art from the DVD covers/ads rather than the actual in-cartoon Brock

More to follow soon!

Here are some minor updates to his overall proportions, let me know what you think!

Lastly, (and sorry for the double post) here’s a really rough colored version:

I always find it helpful to use color when it comes to proportioning

He’s lookin’ great!

Thank you kindly!

I’ve given him a complete proportional overhaul, and am starting to add in some of his clothes

I love it, great pose, still trying to create characters like this myself. It’s the wide chest and arms i love

Simon

Thanks Simon! I can’t wait to get him to an overall proportional state that I am happy with, so that I can start detailing him

lovely modeling, looks really good!

:+1:

Thanks Michael!

Here are two more shots:

I am starting to rough in more detail, am adding color, and the rest of his gear! Let me know what you think!

Also, I will be uploading a work in progress turntable shortly

Very cool. Wondering why you went with him looking so aged and or evil twin type of look?

Thank you kindly  I didn’t really go for an aged or evil twin type of look :stuck_out_tongue: I just find that a lot of the sculpted detail gets lost between Zbrush and 3ds MAX.

So I tend to oversculpt the detail a bit in order for it to not get too muted in MAX  Hope that makes sense!

Still freakin’ cool dude.

Excellent fanart.

Thank you very much Floyd!
The turntable is now up on YouTube!

Please let me know what you think!

I like the turnaround man.

Can really see the animation potential as well.

EDIT: BTW that is a sweet reel you have on your site.

Thank you so much Floyd! Thank you so much for your kind words and your compliments, your work is awesome!
