Venom [WIP]

hello. this is my tribute to marvel’s venom.
i’ve started from scratch by building a low-poly base mesh in maya and then sculpting on it with the move and claytubes brushes in zbrush.
Some work needed on claws and the face, and texturing though, i think i’ll do that when i’ll have some free time and post it.
this is my first work in zbrush, so i hope you enjoy it.
thanks

Hi Nemes,

This is a good start I think you need to check the proportion It looks a bit of.

Good luck I’m curious how this is gonna develop.

Take care.

thanks mate i appreciate that
a small update, just finished the hands.
smoothed out the mesh, now will be working on the eyes, the sign and the web on his costume.
check this out later on
and btw its nemesis  not nemes , nemesis was already taken so i had to improvise:)

Hi there, nice start, Nemesis!
May I suggest to you to check out the proportions before going into detailing? The thighs and arms (I mean the region between the shoulder and elbow joints) are shurely too short. Maybe forearms too. The height of your guy is about 6-7 heads. I’m no master of comics-style heroes, but looks like fixing thighs and shoulders should do it. Google a bit - you’ll tons of refs for proportions.

Good luck and happy sculpting!

SLOOOOW DOOOOWN!!!

Your model is nowhere near ready for you to go in and start detailing anything yet. You are starting to detail his hands, but there is no wrist, and no ball of his thumb.
I can tell that you haven’t used any reference at all for anatomy. His proportions are really off.
Make use of image planes. They are almost essential in order to get a good model. Set one as a subtool, and get your proportions right.

There are tons of reference images of bodybuilders, and venom on line.
Use them.

I’m not trying to be mean.
Take it from me, I know how thrilling it is to bang out a model, and post it in the forum. But patience, grasshopper:lol:

I have a few reference images that I’ve used in the past for proportions. When I get home, I’ll post them here for you.

Thanks guys for the comments, but I think first I’ll finish this model because I want to finish it, there’s already no way back, I’ll finish it however it will be looking.
yes, I noticed that it is needing some tweaks, I didn’t learn human anatomy, or went to school of arts , or use the references so I think it’s pretty admittable for the first time.
I hope with your help and advices in the future I’ll get a better model, thanks for opinions.
one more thing : how to get rid of these pixels around the model (the black and white points around the fingers for instance)? these are really annnoying…
comments as always are welcome, I won’t take offense to anyone because anyone knows better than me :stuck_out_tongue:

cool update I agree with meanboy, but I see that you wanna finish it so keep them coming :).

Peace

Some new updates, fixed the mesh , the proportions, pulled the neck a bit, sculpted the teeh and the jaw, will work now on the eyes and the costume.

Thank you, rjsmal! That will help me a lot

Here’s what I’ve got so far.
Just pulled out the eyes because it makes me nervous when I’m looking on his soft surface on the head.
Rjsmal, or somebody, could you please, drop a hint for me, which are the zones with a bigger point of interest so I could work on that.
It just looks finished to me, really, I’m not joking
So here we go

 1. He needs a neck. Right now it looks like his head is joined to his body by his trapezius muscles. If you look at the anatomy photos, there is the neck, and behind that comes the traps.

 2. I’d make his deltoids stand out more, and definitely work on his triceps. Contrary to popular beleif, the tricep is the biggest muscle on the arm

 3. He has no lats (the muscles on the back that give a body the V taper)

 4. His legs are way too long and way too big.

What I’d recommend you do, is find a picture of venom that you think is great, shrink down your zbrush screen so you can see both the venom picture and your zbrush model side by side, and compare the two.

Below are some links to some other peple’s vemom models, to start you off.
Compare theirs to yours, anatomywise.

Hey mate I’ve worked a little with your references, great references though, big thanks again.
Here’s what I’ve got :

New muscular system #1.jpg

I decided to take a break coz I am exhausted.
Also I enlarged his mouth, and I will make new teeth and tongue tomorrow.
P.S. Can I get some tips for making the tongue? I kinda failed at first one

Just append some Zspheres into a chain and you can then append that skinned chain in and sculpt it. Works better than modeling it.

Now THAT’S what I’m talking about:D

See how much better it looks?

Glad I was able to help out, and keep on going.

Thanks
Some teeth and a tongue coming out soon
Take care

So I’ve just finished the teeth… here you go

Looking good!!

Big thanks, comments like that are pushing me up and inspiring to finish the model
I’ve worked a bit on the tongue, and I was wondering if I did it right.
It may look like some of the teeth are interstecting with the tongue, but dont get fooled by the images, it doesn’t intersect at all.
