Vector to 3d

Hello. I am trying to figure out the best way to convert a black and white highly detailed vector image to 3d, like on a coin. Can anyone explain the best way to extrude the image from a flat plane? I see the new version has a plugin called precision extract, could this be used? Any help is appreciated as I am a noob.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @Sandman5000_Dream, accordingly to the description below, the precision extract plugin is not to for converting vector displacement image to a mesh.
IT use for 3d printing and have a better precision on how we extract polygon from an existing topology.

PrecisionExtract

The Precision Extract plugin allows you to enter in a specific mm value when extracting a new Subtool from masking. The plugin also contains options to allow for automatic ZRemeshing, Mask clearing, and Setting the newly created Subtool as subtractive (for use with the Live Boolean system.)

so what you want is to create a VDM brush using your vector displacement image.
well check that video it explain the process to do what you want.

Hope it helps!

Thank you for the assistance! I will take a look at this. I also found a video from Michael P about mask extrusions, I will play around with that as well.
Thanks again
