Hey everyone,
I’ve found it a royal PIA trying to get a good result using ZB created vector displacement maps over in Arnold for 3ds Max so I was hoping someone here on ZBC could tell me if the situation is any better with VRay.
For the uninitiated, 3ds Max in it’s current state passes only triangles (not quads) to the Arnold engine at render time so in effect it royally screws up any catmull-clark subdivision related work you may have sought to do, such as using a vector displacement map previously baked in ZBrush!
There’s a work-around in Max using an Open-Subdiv modifier but it makes rendering slower than it should be and the result is still not as accurate as it should be!
So, can any V-Ray buffs let me know if they have had more luck?
