VDM from existing tool?

I’m trying to build VDMs from existing tools but finding the process not very friendly for complex shapes. I want to capture overhangs and a good amount of detail.

@tobor8man answered this back in '20 (VDM from existing tool?), and while this method works, I find it hard to get a complex mesh projected properly.

The limitations of the process are what they are. The tool was not designed do what you’re trying to do, but rather to capture a quick sculpt in real time. Trying to work outside of those limitations will be challenging. The thread you link probably already has the best answers for you. The newer ZModeler> Move points with surface snapping feature may provide you with some newer options, but working outside of the intended scope of the current tool is always going to be an uphill battle.
