uvs deformed at each subD switch

Hi, I have a serious problem with my uv’s: each time I switch between the different level of subdiv of my model, zbrush changes my UVs. They kinda of melt down.
So that after 50 iteration, my uvs are almost ruined…

My model had smooth uv on, but I would expect to have my uv smoothed just 1 time, when I start to subdivide my model, then remain stable when I switch back and forth.

But actually, each time I switch the different level of subdiv, it seems zbrush re-apply a new smoothing. At the end my uvs are simply unusable…

The UV are kinda are slopping progressively…

I don’t have the latest update yet.

Hey Seb,

I can confirm this still happens in 4r7p3. The reUV button doesn’t fix it either as it seems it should from it’s description. Best thing to do I guess until they fix it is to just copy and paste your UV’s from the model before you started sub dividing when you are ready to bake maps/finished. :frowning:

Hey Seb

The best thing to do here is to keep the SUV off at all times. Turn it on when you are ready to create the texture map with smooth UVs. I would do the following.

  1. Sculpt up the model.
  2. When ready to create the Texture Map walk to the highest level.
  3. Turn on SUV
  4. Then click the ReUV
  5. Now create the Texture Map
  6. Turn SUV off again

Just remember you won’t want the UVs smoothed for Displacement maps and normal maps if you are turning the SmoothUV button on in their sub-palettes.

I would also do what Eric is recommending. Keep a copy of the lowest level with the correct UVs.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Ok.

Well thing is I often go back and forth between modeling/textring tweaks etc…

So I guess the only solution is to turn the smooth fown at all time…

Thx for the info
