UV Map size to Normal Map size

Sup guys.
A question that I havn’t come accross in the forum, & dont realy remember seing it in the Zbrush to Maya or Zbrush to Max guide.
I am wondering if it matters what size you make your UV Map size in your external 3D App ( Maya or Max ) for when you make your Normal map in Zbrush ( ZMapper)
So for e.g if i make a 1024 x 1024 UV Map in Maya or Max is it still fine to make a 2048 x 2048 Normal Map in Zbrush or does it have to be the same size while using both apps with each other.

I am wanting to make animated game characters not high rez still models

Thanks in Advance
p.s Aurick or Ryan i think you can pull me outta this one - I had to gie up for a few months on trying to get Normal Maps happening as there was obviously somthing in my workflow that i was missing & no one would seem to help answer my issue. I possibly could have over read it 100 times

You will get the best results if you map the model for the resolution that you plan to actually use. You’ll get the worst results if you map the model at a larger resolution than you end up using.
