UV concepts

If I use UV master to save a mask as an alpha. I map the clone and copy and paste the UV map on the original and save the mask as alpha.

Now I’m wondering if when I poly paint am I now painting on the UV map? How can I, or does it even work this way, “turn a UV map on or off” of a model. How can I tell when there is a UV map on a model? Am I looking at this concept wrong? How does it work?

Clicking on “Morph UV” will show your UV layout. Also using the Texture Map palette will show whether or not your model has UV’s.
