Uv check problem. No overlapping

Uv check is showing some red areas and I have no clue why or how to fix it. I manualy uvmaped the left side, duplicated, fliped and then combined the two sides so each side is exactly the same. However the biggest red area is on the left side. I have of course checked if there is any overlapping and if the normals was pointing the right way, and everything is correct. The uv works fine in maya.

Using maya 2008 sp2 and zbrush 3.1.

The image attached shows the two red areas and the uv at the left ear.

Try using ZMapper. It has a morph unwrap feature that lets you see exactly what’s happening with the UV’s. It looks like one of the points is getting pulled across the mesh. The morph unwrap will let you identify which one very easily.

If you have any UV’s that are right at the edge of the UV space, that is the most likely cause of the problem. Not all programs register the 0,0 point exactly the same. So any UV’s on the edge can get pulled all the way across to the other side of the map. Another possibility is that one or more of your points didn’t get flipped after all.

Regardless, once you’ve identified the problem point, you should be able to fix the problem fairly easily in your UV editor.

Thanks for the answere, it turned out to be a pentagon where the ear was attached to the head.
