UV border shows up in bump map

Hi, I’ve created a displacment map and brought it back into Maya and it renders fine with Mental ray. I’ve also used this same map as a bump map and rendered the object with no displacement and the bump map looked fine. However when I combined bump mapping with displacement mapping I can see the outline ov the UV borders inth bump map. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

I am having the same problem. Were you able to come up with a solution?

Edit: Double Post

In the bump2D node of your shader network there is an option to adjust edges under effects. Try setting this.

I’ve always fixed the problem using the Fix Seam Option Under texture.

  1. Click AUV tiles under Texture Preferences

  2. Texture / New texture and make it 4096x4096
Then Look at the left texture If it has hoziontal and vertical lines running through it I noticed you will have seams at render time. Because the UVs have to much of a gap.

  3. Adjust the FS slider right next to the Fix Seam Button under texture preferences. Then Hit the Fix Seam Button. Exsample, I raise it by 4 before I see a Change Once you see no lines thats the number you will need after making a normal map.

  4. Make the Normal Map after it is complete adjust the FS slider to the number you used in 3. Hit Fix Seam and then export it.

Thanks guys for the help. I seemed to be able to fix the seams by going to the file node, effects rollout, and turning down the filter to 0.
Also had to do it in the bump node by turning bump filter to 0.

what about with 3dmax… i had same problem. but no luck on fixing it… i use sss bump mental ray material… the color map renders fine but the bump map showed seams… ( i used the same color map for bump map)…

I also turned off the filer in material
Thanks for your help
