Using one object to cut or slice another, is this possible?

Hi,

I have a pentacle I made on one sub layer and an extruded circle on another, I’d like to use a duplicated pentacle to cut out the circle so I have all the inner pieces of the pentacle left over. Is this possible in ZBrush and if so I’ll need a tutorial to do the work, vid if possible.

Thanks so much!

Richard

If you place the pentacle on the sphere where you want it and on the pentacle subtool press the Remesh : Subtract (second from the right icon on the subtool list). Merge and dynamesh them together.

Hope this is clear enough.

HEY, thanks so much. Just now saw this. I’ll give that a try!

I think it is also possible for using one object to cut or slice another.

@Mottoc, I tried that but I had to Dynamesh and then split them again, for some reason it doesn’t do it automatically.
Also what do the other icons on the subtool mean? the second means the subtool will be extracted from the one below right?

The other way I do this, is insert the shape you want to subtract with an Insert Brush while having Dynamesh active and holding Alt

Press Double in Display properties if you don’t want it to look like an empty shape

Align the shape however you want and then in Dynamesh click Sub and then Dynamesh

This so far has worked the best for me but in true Zbrush fashion a simple boolean takes like
10 steps to complete :frowning: so I was looking for an easier way
