Using Move brush on an axis...?

Is it possible to use the Move brush on a specific axis? I’m trying to pull/manipulate areas of my mesh so small spikes/fangs/teeth are extruded, but when I move the camera around the model, they’re facing at an angle rather than towards me.

Yes, but. *

If you shift-rotate your mesh around to lock in parallel with the screen plane, you can slide points around only along the viewing plane. If this is not enough, you can constrain movement to only a single axis via Transofrm > Modifiers, and disable XYZ in favor of the desired axis.

*However, this is something most people would probably just use Gizmo/Transpose move mode for. Dragging on the Gizmo arrows will only move along that specific axis, with no need to monkey with anything else.

Thank you. The Transform Modifier was just the thing I needed.
