Using Initialize for a freshly inserted subtool

Hello!

My model consists of a few subtools.
Now I wanted to add another subtool and use the Initialize functions (like “TaperTop”) on it.
Therefore I click “Geometry”->“Insert” and select “Sphere3D” from the menu.
The sphere is now inserted as a new subtool.
Now I click “Initialize”, because I want to use “TaperTop” on it, but all that “Initialize” offers is “QCube, QSphere, QGRid”, etc.
It seems that Initialize can’t work on this already inserted sub.

I was perfectly sure I once did it this way, but now I can’t anymore.

How could I do this, please?

Thank you!

ZBrush primitives (like the Sphere3D) are converted to polymeshes when appended or inserted as subtools. So you need to make the adjustments you want in the Initialize sub-palette before appending to your model.

(And you are right, originally - something like version 4R3 ? - you could make the changes after appending but that caused problems if you then wanted to sculpt.)

What you say is perfectly true unfortunately.

Now I do it the following way:

I don’t try to use “Insert” to insert the new subtool directly.

Instead, I create a new object that I can use “Initialize” on, and I try to scale it in such a way that it is a big as I expect the future subtool to be.

When I’m done, I switch to the model with the subtools again and THEN use “Insert” to insert this new object as a subtool.
