UPSIDE DOWN MODELS. 3dsmax - Z4

Is it just me or anyone else is getting upside down models between max and zbrush4?

Im just simply exporting from max and importing in zbrush 4 as I always did in Z3.5 and I never had this problem

what am I doing wrong?

See this thread. It might help. See posts #7 & #8 for that solution.

I figured it out … these options need to be on

but I got another problem, when I use GOZ zb-max the model still comes upside down, and when I looked at those options, they were turned off

so, do they turn off just cause I use GOZ?

Yes. GoZ changes these settings whenever you use it (along with a few others), and there’s nothing you can do about it. Unfortunately this renders GoZ useless for most of us here where I work. I’ve alerted the powers that be at Pixologic about this. Hopefully we’ll get a patch soon.

nice!

Im glad Im not the only one to have this problem

Its just disapointing how GoZ get so useless because that.

Hello

We have created a patch that I will need you to test to make sure you are not running into the issue with models being flipped upside down.

To install the patch:
just copy the file “GoZ.zsc” from the archive “GoZ.zip” into the subfolder “ZData/ZPlugs” of ZBrush 4 application folder.

Please let me know if you do or do not run into the issue after installing the patch.

Hi Paul. I assume this is for Maya also? Anyway, I installed the .zsc, but it didn’t fix the problem. As a test, I sent a mesh to Maya with goz before installing the script. Upside down and backwards and too big. Then I closed ZBrush, installed the script, and sent the same piece via GoZ. It came in exactly the same. However, I did notice there are some new buttons in the export preference pallette, and now my flipY and Z are turned off. But when I export an obj, it comes in correctly. I used to have these turned on for things to work right. I’m assuming this is part of the script.

Still no goZ. But thanks for trying!!

thank you. My team will be looking into this more. I am not having this issue on any of my systems so it is a rare one.

harbottle: if it’s exactly the same mesh, then go in Goz Preferences and clear the cache and try again.
