Hi, Im trying to upgrade pc for zbrush, Im using Ati9800,p4 2.4g, 1G DDR Ram right now, winxp, it gets very laggy, when I subdive the model into 1million poly.
I was wondering may be someone can give me some suggestions to upgrade my pc… I may have 1000$ that i can use right now.
also, if you know any good motherboard, please tell me too, mines is kinda ****y.
I usually work with zbrush and max.

RAM is the number one thing that ZBrush likes. After that a dual core CPU is the next best thing.
how about video card?
for supporting dual core, which motherboard should i choose?
Zbrush 2 does not depend on the video card for acceleration. I don’t know about Zbrush 3. You might want to upgrade that at a later date as the dx10 capable cards become less expensive (which probably won’t make a difference to zbrush anyway)

heard it got something to do with shared memory
i was thinking about getting another computer just for the searching
and leaving this one for the work.wHAT DO YA THINK??
