Unicorn

Now if I could get a body I might have something ~G~ Since a lot of this work was done post work (in z) I doubt I can repeat it. I did smooth out the mane in PSP.

Interesting image D :warning: What plans do you have for this one

Thanks everyone. Dee, just hoping someday to do a good fantasy pic. One where I don’t have to put the creatures 10 miles away so no one can see details. ~G~

Stone, still not up to the bar I have set. Getting a better idea though. ~G~ Thanks for your encouragment.

You must have set that bar very high, DLee, if this model isn’t up to it! Terrific work. :+1: :+1: :+1:

:+1: Great unicorn.

I found this unicorn horn washed up on the beach near the Bermuda triangle. Maybe you can use it.

Sorry I did mean the unicorn, but your horn is excellent too Jay!

Thanks Mik (?) I’m not sure if you are talking about the Unicorn or the Horn.

Hi, Jay the horn is really nice. Doesn’t really fit this pic… least what I had in mind. Maybe if I do another.

Thanks everyone.

Hi D.

I was thinking also of the others who wanted to do a Unicorn. I realize it wouldn’t fit in the pic, but I think it would fit your unicorn very nicely, although it would need to have the sand cleaned off, maybe shined up a bit, etc. I used a Gel shader -based material for a jewel-like effect, but I’m sure most people would go with a more horn or antler-like material.

I think if it was textured with a low specular material, then textured on the outer ridges with Texture Master, using a higher specular, lighter colored material it would look good. Then blend it with a horse head with a process of modeling and 2.5D painting, along with some fiberbrush, and it would look awesome. IMO, of course.

wow D…this is coming along nicely…(better watch this one…someone could swipe it      ) You are getting closer all the time and this unicorn proves it…nice job young lady :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

This is really, really well done, D. You are a worse self-critic than I am, if that is possible! I mean it, really, this unicorn rocks, especially the mane and the texture of his fur (or do you just call it hair on a horse?)

Seeing an image like this makes me want to do one, but now with your fine precedence and Tishina’s Atlantean Steed, I think I will pass!

PS: Love the unicorn horn, Jaycephus! Well rendered and layed out, looks like a photo.

Hi Slosh,

After reading your interview, I think D. Lee and I should take your compliments seriously. I believe you stated that you are more into making art that is more photorealistic and detailed (as am I). The hair and mane on the unicorn is so realistic. I am especially drawn to ZWorks with these types of realistic elements, even if the subject is fantasy. Even some of Rohm’s art, as fantastic as it usually is, draws me in because the objects look more like they were real objects that were photographed rather than painted.
