UK Supermarket trialing 3D printing and scanning using ZBrush

And that article thinks it’s expensive.
Can’t wait for it to roll out across the country.
Oh, and for you guys over the Atlantic, Asda is the UK arm of Wallmart

That’s an Artec handheld scanner and a Zcorp (Now owned by 3D Systems) printer. £40 for an 8 inch statue isn’t bad considering the work behind it. They’re probably not making much money at all at that price. One thing these videos always skip is the actual work that goes into it. It’s a lot more effort than is portrayed. Most people think it’s a magic button, it’s not. There’s a lot of pre-printing and post-printing processing going on.

If you have a printer at home, you can even 3D print not only yourself but a miniature of your whole family. Isn’t that cool? But I think it would be pretty hard especially if you don’t have the basic know-how about CAD. I just ordered filaments from 3D2PRINT and I’ve been thinking about creating this idea. This is a big challenge for me.
