A comment was made to me today by my better half and got me to thinking.

What it amounts to is that she mentioned regarding this forum, that I was lucky to have it.

Not posting work in the main room under this name.
I don’t do that because:
1.It isn’t good enough.
2.Not enough of some of it was done in zbrush to warrant posting it there.
Also posts from me there under this name would not be a good thing.
No reason to feel bad for me.
Not deprived.
Under another name, in another place work does see the light of day.

What she was talking about was the unfiltered/valuable advice I have gotten here over a very long period of time.
Zbrushers have advised me regarding purchases of computers,books, cameras,software,TVs.
All of this advice has influenced what, where and how I purchased what I did.
In some cases you were the only people I could ask.
What we do is not common. In my case not a lot of my peers Zbrush.

The basement of ZCentral ( where you are now) permits me,within reason to expound on a variety of things. Most of which would get me arrested anyplace else. It is a form of therapy and gives my hands something to do.

In the case of others, it is starting to be a form of Craigs List for salable items.
The day of the image and advertisement for a used washer/dryer is close at hand.

I like the basement, you meet a lot of nice, knowledgable people here.
There are always a few strays from upstairs,but generally speaking, they stay away.

What I am trying to do, I guess, is express my gratitude for the place, the administrators and most of all …the basement zbrushers.
When I figure out how to do it, I will be back.
At some future date, I hope to retire here.

OH! the title?.. I figured a simple thank you would not get you to open it.

First I am not ChemKid.
Chemkid is.
After identity discussions have to clear that up.
(In another thread 3 of me got into a heated argument.
Me, the person that mis-spells all the words won, he was due.
Hardest personnae is a “lady” from Europe, that is work!!!)

If by the jump you mean “retire”, that was done after 9/11.
Due to a happy set of coincidences and circumstance, have done
quite well without the 9-5 stuff.

As better half said, this place (basement) fulfills a “need”.

Sometimes we drink a couple of beers and get sentimental, nothing bad with that.
Since you seem to enjoy compliments(strange thing), during the years I have spent here your posts made my stay more pleasant. They gave a bit of life to the predominant talks of tech stuff and industrial efficiency.

After checking the top dweller’s domain for new posts of creatures with goat’s legs and things wearing superbly sculpted armor that would not bend at the joints, I always come down to the basement to see if there’s something a little different.

The 9-5 has avoided me for years.

chemkid, your reference to (gibson) must have been to William Gibson…Cyberevolution…good lunchtime reading.:cool:

Well - bicc, for the title: just try “violence” or “nudity”, you’ll get even more hits.
For the rest (like changing names for a reason, prefering the twilight, etc.) -
met you here ages ago so it seems. Another name, another time.
Been not here for years on a regular basis, all about moles and basement dwellers, shunning the big lights and their shadows.
And, it is good to see, that there still seems to be the basement, a place where even I could post cubes and other advanced mishaps. This all is very much encouraging - so I guess your “thanks” goes both ways, just for taking the risk to get nuked for a sentiment. Sort of.
