Tyre Test with Zbrush 3

:+1: 1st post I do since I’m registered in ZBcentral :+1:

Here a little test with ZB3.

I actually work for driving Simulation, and this is just a attempt to create a texture fast as I can. It’s in order to test our Simulation Engine. Combination of a Normal mal and Ambient map, will be great as we hope.

High Poly Shape = 3 Million polygons.
LowPoly Shape = 200 poly

That clear that the trademark was just here to illustrate some test.
I really hope that we will work on some other object like metalic city props [sculpture, bench) architectural shape and trees.

I will post some improvement on that tyre, but I will leave the rim out of that wip, because I think I will not use ZB to do it, maybe in Modo.

Any criticism will be welcome

Now another tyre. It seem’s that I’ve some problems with Masking. I’ve Use a gradient to apply a blend wetween inflat 100% and 0% at the tread junction. There it’s like a rough and stratched.

That because I’ve used a 256X256 8bits gradient ? What did you suggest ?

It looks to me like it’s a matter of polygon resolution. Have you tried turning off Quick 3D Edit and setting Tool>Display Properties>DSmooth to 1? Does this smooth things out for you?

I got nothing . No improvement.

Do I need to apply DSmooth 1 setting at the start of the modeling process ?

It really seems thats a Poly resolution problem. ^^

It seems that the tyre on the left I pusume is the same as the one on the right if it is then the left tyre looks really nice. Is there a reason that you need to see the tyre that close up, if then I would say try to sort it out but if its just going to be seen from a distance then I don’t see a problem. looks like a good looking tyre to me, but use maps for the decals.

Yes I’ve been submerged byby the wish to go more in depth.

So that 's ok for this test. I will use it with some other decal texture to get a realtime game texture as fine as needed.
