Two types of saving?

I had a little problem with saving. When I went to save a project there was 2 options, Save it as a Document or save it as a tool. When I went to save my project as a document, I wasn’t able to edit it. But when I saved it as a Tool, I would load up the tool and ten was able to edit the project again.

Is this really how you save your project? Cause i’m not sure what is the right way.

I’m sorry if this is a stupid question, but it really confuses me cause I don’t know if i’m suppose to save it this way.

There are actually three kinds of saving that relate to models.

  • Document saves a 2.5D picture. It is pixols rather than polygons. Use this if you’re working on an illustration/painting. In most cases you’ll still also save your Tool separately.
  • Tool saves your model as polygons so that you can sculpt later.
  • Project (File >> Save As) saves not only your current model but also all other custom models currently in the Tool palette, plus some other things including Undo History, light settings, etc.
