Two models both with sub tools in the same scene, any ideas?

I am really stuck please help. I was advised that if i load both tools up, then create a new document select each sub tool and draw each one in turn to the canvas. The first model comes in when you try to then bring the next model in it brings just one of the sub tools in from the model rather than the whole model. my thought was to merge the models together but i can do this as it says the file will make a too big a polly mesh, so it will not let me merge the tools together. So is there any way of getting both models in with there sub tools in the one scene. My scene is a squid attacking a greta white shark so I need them in the one scene then I need to pose the squid attacking the shark.

Please help as i have all the elements ready just can’t make the scene.

Thanks for the advice in advance this is greatly appreciated. Once i know how to do this i have a few other scenes with two models in that i can then create.

Thankyou.

Use ‘Multi Append’ in SubTool Master.

Thanks for the info, never used multi append, what would i do to get both models in then. Do i open document bring in one model then use multi append, not sure what is the correct way to get them both in. many thanks for you info I am pretty new to zbrush and still so much to learn, if you have any further info i would really appreciate it, thanks so much. Glen.

To append all the subtools from one model onto another:

  1. Load the project that contains the first model, or load the ZTL file into the current project by pressing Tool>Load Tool and selecting the file.
  2. Make sure the model is in Edit mode and press SubTool Master>Multi Append. Select the ZTL for the other model from disk.

SubTool Master will automatically append all the subtools.

However, posing two models like this to create a scene could become quite difficult if there are a lot of subtools for each model. There’s no easy way to keep each set of subtools associated with each model. If you are new to ZBrush then it will all be quite a steep learning curve.

Posing subtools can be easier using the Transpose Master plugin. What this does is create a combined mesh of all the subtools at their lowest resolution. You can then pose this using Transpose or ZSphere rigging and when you’re done the plugin will automatically transfer the pose to the subtools model.

Just use Multi Append to bring in both ZTools at the same time if they are in the same folder(select both files). If they are in seperate folders, you will have to bring them in one at a time.

  1. Click on ‘SubTool Master’ button, then click ‘Multi Append’.
  2. Select both ZTools (select 1, hold down Ctrl and select the other) then click ‘Open’.

SubTool Master will then load both ZTools with all their subtools.
