Okay, so I created a DoubleShader material for a skin texture, and now I want to create another DoubleShader for a hair texture, but I don’t know how to create another DoubleShader without overriding the first. I’ve also had issues in the past where I wanted to edit the Basic Material, but keep the original material in the library for later use. How do I create materials without overriding something that’s already there?
Once you have created your Material, save it with a different name to ZBrush 4R7/ZStartup/Materials folder. Restart ZBrush and you will have the new Material and original Material will still be intact. Do not place more than 25 materials in that folder as ZBrush might become unstable.
Seems like kind of a pain. I can add new textures, alphas, brushes, and subtools to their respective lists, but can’t do the same to materials? Seems like a good area to focus on in the next update. But oh well. Thanks for the help.
If you want unlimited access to materials use lightbox>materials
You can add as many materials you want, folders and shortcuts to the folder zbrush 4r7/zmaterials/
You have also a preview of the material
If you do a model using these materials they will be saved if you use project format and not ztool
Is Project format where you go to File>Save as? Or would it be Document>Save?
Or am I even talking about the right thing?
File> save as is the correct one, or simply ctrl+s
It will use zpr extension, zproject
Document only will save a 2.5 dimensions screenshot, a legacy tool.
If you save them to your ZBrush 4R7/ZStartup/Materials folder, they will be in the Materials palette.
