Tropical Downpour

Another experiment with a WIP. Comments related to the improvement of this image are welcomed.

Hey Joe, did you do this with the smudge brush? I remember the WIP…Might look cool with some of your people keeping out of the rain under that pavillion. Must have been one heck of a down pour. Adding people though would be my only suggestion… :+1: :+1: :+1:

I was thinking puddles might be nice, but then remembered my experiences in the Carribean, and the fact that rain gets sucked up pretty quickly by that old rock you guys have there!

I like Rons’ idea for people sheltering from the downpour…

I totally concur, those are planned for a future update.

I really enjoy seeing your paintings big D! I can almost see a figure under that canopy…lounging in a beach chair…with a bottle of corona grasped lovingly in his/her hand…

i too think that there should be puddles of water and little tiny droplets splashing up from them… all in all fantastico…

What’s a WIP?

Hah, nevermind. Work in Progress

very refreshing rain, DeeVee! i love the idea to use that beautiful scene for this and the way you achieved the downpour feel… my only criticism is that i doubt the sky to be that blue while it rains - but then i a) dont remember what it looks like when raining in tropical degrees of latitude and b) as you know, i love that carribean blue that mucho  yeah, and maybe getting rid of any sharp edges by washing them off with the blurbrush

a veryvery beautiful one, amigo!!! hope that sun comes back soonissimost, though!

Juandel, your’s and others observationa and suggestions have been noted. In the tropics, it is not uncommon for the sky to open up with the sun shining brightly. The closer you get to the Equator the more common this occurs.

This is a small update

Update The three boys now have on their swim trunks.

That is really nice DeeVee! As I said a breath of fresh air! Just one thing- the clothing is a bit bright and seems to stand out against the rain a little much. How big is this picture anyway (poster size?) :+1: :+1:

I like the figures and the trunks too…but I would tone the colors on the trunks down just a tad…my eye was drawn directly to the garments…I can’t wait till you get a digital tablet…you will end up with so much more control over these beautiful creations you share with us. Has it been raining in the Caymans the past couple of days? Tell the Mrs. hey for us.
Ron :+1: :+1:

Update cloths smudged.

that did the trick :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Cool DeeVee. I really like the colors, and sense of motion in this image. A warm dy turned rainy and cool.

veryvery nice, DeeVee… i’d love to hear the sound of the rain against the roof! and what the boys have to tell each other  muy bien!

Very soothing to look at. The colors play nicely to together and the sense of motion brings about a sense of calmenss to the picture. I love your style DeeVee! :+1: :+1: :+1:
