I suppose and confess that I must to miss a vital conceptual point !
Thx by advance
Pilou
Hi Pilou;
Iâm not a âwing3d guruâ or anything, I just
happened to know the answer to your question.
Wings3d is actually a âsolid modelerâ, meaning
you canât cut out a face and still have a 3d
mesh. However there are some workarounds to
all these, depending on what you intend to do
with the results and where to use it.
On your first question:
Make a cube 3d. By selecting any edge, Wings
will notify you the lenght which is 2 wings
unit (default.)
Select a face
Extrude region
: :(along itâs) Normal
Press tab and enter -2
This actually doesnât remove or deltete that
face, but pushes it back. So if you select the
whole object, you can still read 12 vertices
on info line. Up left on screen.

On your second question:
on vertex mode,select point B and C
Connect
on face mode, select the faces you need to
keep
Extract region
free
delete the original cube

There are always other methodes of doing things
in every program. So keep an open mind and
good luck!

Hi Matvara
Thx
Ok for the first : itâs clear
For the second I should have a general solution
as above facettes âFâ have no particular orientation
I want of course F & F fixed in this position
I know how have a triangular facette from any volume
The problem now is again connect AA BB CC
Is the mode âTweakâ (very easy moving of point) permit with a special key to move A on A (a snapping ?)?
Or what is your following workflow in this case?
I know this can must be trivial but itâs the essential ! (with your answer i will can make any things
And last question Wings prefer triangular or quadrangular facette ?
Thx by advance
Pilou
Ps of course I have read the doc and some tuts but Not yet find that i wish
Maybe I have read the solution but forget it
Hi again;
I believe your answer lays in âVertex-Scale
uniformâ. I will make a more precise picturial tommorrow and post it as I have better
time, of course if it can wait til tommorrow!
Have a nice day!

What are you trying to make frenchy?
Hi MtB
Just to make a facette between 3 points fixed
But maybe I am out the subject as matvara said : wings is a âsolidâ modeler !
And that will be not the orthodox method
Maybe I must build a new volum and not a new facette
But curious that i canât move points on anothers without snap ?
Pilou
Hi Matvara
I have of course the Collection of this crazzy modeler guy but else it was writing with a very small police(no growing in direct navigator size) & englih (I just think that I can make a copy/paste in a Text prog :D) I had not enough digging
Thx to repoint me on the good tut
I wish that I will arrive to make my trivial manipulation!
Pilou
He said â(never said it was simple)â
And agree with me that seems not a very easily intuitive method
And have you some light between the âTweakâ mode and a possible snapping ?
A great headache adventure game
Hi Pilou;
No headache at all. All these programs around
modeling and manipulating objects follow more
or less the same concept, but in different ways
and under different definitions. I believe
Rhino will fit your needs better, given your
examples on this tread, but again itâs not a
free prog as Wings.
And yes you can always use tweak mode in Wings
which works fine when you have quadratic view
enabled, so you can move points as close as
possible, Less than the Wings weldâs tolerance
in order to weld them later.
Another simpler way would be to construct your
project on some primitives by dividing, cutting
and tweaking, then mark those faces you need
and extract region command.
Good luck with your project!
:b2:

Hi Matvara
I have found my âownâ workflow
(adapted from your first post)
Not so easy
Hopfully 2 Edges can be âAlign Allâ
And discover than a facette is not a facette but one volume with a thick null
(so when you are in mode face, you must select the 2 faces !!! (yes trivial, but not for me
This wings has a particular workflow
Thx again
And damned as that you said there is no Snap in the âtweakâ mode
Pilou

I re-discover the boiling Water
Some boolean functions can be simulate by the function âbridgeâ
Take 2 oposite faces with the same numbers of vertices (and maybe not the same form as the example
and miracle a âtunnelâ is created

(I have read that in the very amazing tut of Anim8 )
A model of writing instructions
Fouad you are the KING
I retake it this incredible prog powerful than 3DMax but the exe is just 1,2 megas!!!
ANIM8OR ANIM8or anim8or
