Transparency and Zmodeler Operation Execution

Hey Pxologic Team!

I ran into an odd one while working today, and I hope you guys can help me out. It seems to be the operation between zbrush identifying a surface with transparency enabled and executing the appropriate zmodeler operation.

In this example, I’m inserting a Cube3D and replacing it with a Polycube for the quads (shown in frame mode). Scaling it down inside another box which is a transparent package. The cursor is over the poly I want to qmesh.

When I perform the operation, it instead inserts an edgeloop.

It seems to be reading the closest trace it can detect on the outside of the model without regard to transparency, which in this case, would be the visible edge partially protruding through the outer portion of the mesh. Zmodeler operations work fine in solo.

Should I be able to model an object within another object independently? Is transparency only a visual reference that zmodeler ignores? Thanks for the help and insight!

Hi @skrawnybynature, I confirm that i was able to reproduce the issue you had described.
Please report it by starting a new conversation with the Support Center.

Hope it Helps!

I cannot immediately produce the issue from the description. I have no trouble doing what is described in transparency mode, if paying attention to make sure that the intended element is actually highlighted before performing the operation.

It may be either an issue with a very specific scenario that I’m not reproducing, a specific version of ZBrush, or an issue with your technique.

If you believe you have a technical issue or have found a bug in ZBrush, the place to report that is Pixologic Support. This is the only place technical support for ZBrush is provided. Issues reported any place else may be missed by the development team. Please make sure you are using the most up to date version of the software (2021.6.3 currently) before making this report ( I have no idea what version of ZBrush is being used here).

Thank you!
