transfer uvs from maya

Hi,

i modeled i high detailed mesh, after that i retopologized this and was layout the uvs from lowpolymesh in maya, know i would import the new UV-layouted mesh from maya into zbrush and transfer the details from highres mesh to the new uv-layouted lowres mesh…is there way?

Append the new mesh to the original. Divide it to have as many polygons. Set your Draw values to specify what you want to copy (Zadd for sculpt and Rgb for polypaint). Now use Tool>SubTool>Project All to copy the details from the other visible SubTools.

If you have problem areas, you can use masking to protect them from the transfer. You can also use the other sculpting brushes (including the Zproject brush) to do spot touch-ups if necessary.

Sorry this does not work.
Because I’m new user, please specify haw can I import UVs from another app.
In UVs palette, there is not something like import UVs. WHY? DO you have any problem with logic? I really need a straight logic answer here! ALL THESE WORK ON A MAC? AM I LOOSING MY TIME AND MY MONEY HERE?

UV’s depend upon the model’s point count and order. As you said in your initial post, the point order for your model has changed. Because of that, you can’t just import the new UV’s.

Could you please provide more info about what went wrong when you tried my previous suggestion. “This does not work” doesn’t help us help you.

Also, which version of ZBrush are you running? What is the version number that it shows in the title bar?

I even can’t post a thread in this forum, even my jpgs are not acceptable here…

Just to show you what my problem is:
In draw menu there is something about persp view -focal length- 50 (should mean 50mm), 80 (should be a tele -80mm), … But NO, just the opposite, its a macro!!!. Exporting obj files means you have to vertical invert uvs first!!! You should select a tool (a tool???) first and then import another, so this is how you can import UVs!!!. In UVs palette should be an import UV button but no… lets be unlogical again… Imports-exports are in bottom right corner!!! (where is the file menu?). NOT LOGIC!!! I spent my money, so I insist that there should be a tutorial (from people who actually wrote this app) for V3.2 for Mac. The existing online tutorial is full of mistakes… What i’ve learned there is that lots missing from MAC version. That’s really to bad for you! I DO NOT WANT TO SEARCH IN A FORUM for hours and hours, I really have better things to do in my short life, even with this app… IMO zbrush should be rewritten from scratch. BTW on a MAC pro (nehalem 16 threads) lots of crashes. MAC OSx 10.6 is coming, I hope everything should work fine there, else…
IM VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!
As you may understand I really have some experience in 3ds, from 90s. Even I speak english terribly (sorry for this). Even created some interesting models with zbrush. Even my posts, my uploads, are not acceptable in this forum. But once again. NOT LOGIC.
