Is there a way to make and export a UV-map of an animal’s fur while keeping the overall colors of the animal? Say I polypainted a wolf, gave him a fur, I know the hairs can get the wolf’s colors, but how to export that, retaining those colors on the overall hair object for rendering in another application?
If the target application supports vertex color import you can export the mesh with Polypaint information. Otherwise you would need to create UVs and a texture. The mesh may require simplification and polygon reduction before it can easily be unwrapped.
Thank you. I’m afraid it doesn’t; all fibres will be one object that need an overall color map, and therefore I would need it UV’d. There should be a map that colors every fibre with the color from its origin on the main object.
I though it would somehow perhaps be possible to transfer that base object mapping from the base object to the fibre object. I think it’s quite undoable to make a separate UV map from a huge number of fibres, and even if possible, it may not represent the base object colors.
I’ll look for another solution.
I’ve got my solution, so you guys can stop thinking
