Topology (OOPS!)

Uhm I can’t really say what I did here, but it seems I copied my preview mesh and then it became a tangable object in my workspace

I’ve done an hour and a half of topology now and I hope it’s not all gone to shreds now. Does anyone know how I can get that second head out of the way? (the left one)

If its a subtool just delete it. If not, try ctrl+shift drag the green box over it( make sure the box doesn’t make contact with the other model ) then press alt while holding ctrk+shift then let go of lmb. Then open up geometry and serlect “delete hidden”.

thanks for the quick reply mudpitt!

I tried what you said, but I can’t even select it. It seems to hover above what I am working on. When I move my topo-object then that shape I want to get rid of, sits in the exact same place.

I can’t select it and it’s not a subtool. The only subtool I see is the zsphere (if I stop “edit topology”… any other ideas?

Thanks again mudpitt!

Try this,

Turn ‘Edit’ off then Ctrl+N to clear the canvas then redraw your ZSphere which should still be in the subtool menu then turn on Edit to continue.

zber2 again haha yes! just hitting cmd+N worked it out  i pressed it and gone was that second face!! yes! Thanks for much man! Great help

Oh one more thing, what do you think of the topology? I think it might be too detailed? This is my first one ever so I’d love to hear what you think of it

cheers!

I think the topology is looking good considering it is your first one. Yes, maybe a little to much detail. I don’t think that much was necessary, but it’s still good. You have the right idea. I’m glad you got rid of the other face.

MMOELLE, check out this link regarding good face topology.

Face Topology

oh wow thanks! That’s great resource  I decided to start it over again, and use less points as I did before. Which doesn’t devalue the answer I got, since it will most likley happen again

thanks zber2

one more thing

I was told to go into retopo to eliminate some wrinkles i had on my model, and how when I preview what I topoed with the highest subdivisions I get this… .

How do I get rid of those craters? Is it okay to continue editing the model once I finished my topo? Like fine details which I am still missing? Or is that to be done before topoing?

Oh and I am right now seeing my topo lines through my clay model, is there a way to turn that off? I can’t work on the back since I am confused by the lines on the front of it :S

thanks a million!
