Topology help needed please Hands a mess?

It dont seem to matter what I do Zbrush just dont like hands. Even If i try to edit a supplied model, super avereage man and just preview the mesh while in edit topology, not even projected, it makes a complete mess of the hands. This is so odd as the hands topology looks fine.

Can somone help please as this is holding me up badly. Try doing the following.

  1. Load your model or suer average man and bring him into rigging mode.

  2. Sellect same mesh for topology and just press preview. All looks fine apaert from hands fold up and show holes.

Im having to build a new topology froom scatch just to correct one or two mistakes in my topology. Zbrush just cant produce a clean mesh even if the topology was made in zbrush in the first place. This a major issue im having other than not being able to scale zoom in close enougth which is in my other thread.

I had the same problem.
does anyone know how to solve this problem?

this is a problem when doing retop, on things like fingers, if you only have 4 polys around, a trick is to add an edge loop.
there are two other methods worth trying, attempt to do the retop at your models 2nd division, and keeping it at that level when you’re done, otherwise you have to be carefull to make the correct number of polys, so you can recontruct later.
another idea is not to retop the fingers at all in retopology, just close off the hand and when you’re done, edge loop out the fingers, you can then use zproject or projection in the subtool palette to restore your sculpting.
all kinds of topology goodies in here:

Its because when you drag a low poly model into the topo tools to “just view” and hit preview, what is missing is that most of the Zspheres are hid.

Before you hit preview First clear the mask (trust me it is masked)
then hold ctrl and shift and click anywhere in a clear space
then preview

canned i dont believe hes talking about hidden topo lines, look at the mesh and the way its closed off parts of the fingers and hand, this problem came up alot in the top&flow thread but never was really resolved, start at post #452 up. post #544 shows a good example as well.

Oh~ Great thanks guys!
Really useful input.

I solved the problem~

I found that Zbrush is powerful but is very sensitive and hard to master!
