Tom Thumb - 3D Cinematic Character

As the curtains draw on 2023, I find myself captivated by the enigmatic and eerie creations of the brilliant Anton Semenov. One artwork has caught my attention and inspired me to embark on a journey with an odd-looking thumb creature, named Tom Thumb, brought to life through the realm of 3D.

One doodle led to another, and before I knew it, I birthed Tom Thumb into the 3D world.
This mischievous thumb creature started as a casual sketch, but my masochistic and perfectionistic artistic sides thought, “Let’s go all out!” turning into a fully-rendered cinematic character.

The high poly was done in Zbrush, Retopo using Decimation, UV in Maya, Baked, and Textured in Substance Painter, and lastly, the final rendering and presentation were done in Arnold and Composited in Photoshop.

Please go check out Anton Semenov’s work - his dark and gritty style got me hooked!

For my next project, I’m gearing up to create a proper humanoid character. Don’t get me wrong; I love my abominations, but it’s time to showcase a different side of my creativity and skills. At least this one showcases a small part of a human - a thumb~

As the year comes to a close, I look forward to embracing new challenges and artistic journeys in 2024.
Here’s to a thrilling 2024!
