ZBrushCentral

To Edit ZBrush defaults

Hi !

I wonder if there’s a central file that handles & defines all of the UI default floats values. I’d like to set once and for all certain sliders to most used values, like crease levels for example which resets always to 15 while I need just 2. And of course, that’s just one of hundreds of examples that the “store config” and “save UI” just doesn’t care about since (probably) the very first version of ZBrush.

I hope there’s a way to do this I’m just not aware of yet, and if so, please don’t hesitate to point me towards the right folder/file. If this has already been answered, I’d like to read about it !

Thanks =)

Hi @Vexod14 ,

Settings in the Preferences menu can typically be stored for startup. Some settings may be stored on a brush by brush basis, and you can only change this by changing the source brush file. Please note that files cannot be added to or subtracted from the ZData folder without breaking your install. They can be replaced by a file of the exact same name, but care must be taken. Because of the high potential for damaging your install, we do not recommend modifying the ZData folder.

Custom assets like brushes can be added sparingly to ZStartup, but this will begin to affect program performance. Ideally most situational content should be added to the Lightbox folders and loaded on demand, not on startup.

Some settings in the program however are stored on a file by file basis, and you cannot store these values as part of the configuration. You can however run a script or a macro at startup to set them to the desired starting value.
