Tips Tricks and Methods

Hello everybody,
I am a student at a university in the UK. My final year project is to research test and implement various methods to create a high end human representation comparable to a photograph, which will be completed around may this year. The project will be created using 3ds Max (modelling, lighting rendering) and Zbrush (texturing, sculpting).

I would consider myself an adequate user and my work is generally good, (although not good enough for posting in my opinion :)…)
As a result this project is a huge challenge for me. I would like to learn what makes average work, exceptional work, which i find so much of on this website, apart from experience which is obviously essential.

I am looking for what people would to consider to be essential work flows in order to create high end assets. This can include, modelling techniques, texturing methods, rendering engines, lighting solutions or any information considered to be of use.

As you have guessed this is not only essential for my portfolio but it will benefit me as an artist providing an insight into different techniques.

Please respond to [email protected] to contact me directly, or simply respond to this thread.

Any information you provide which is used will be referenced to you in my portfolio, and I hope to be posting some good work in the next few months.

thank you very much,

James Bates
