G’day there, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on texturing gold and if possible the source of some good textures to work from?
The gold will be for a skinny Buddha I am currently sculpting.
Cheers if you can help.

Why not use MatCap to capture the gold from a photograph that has the look you’re going for?

Ok thanks, gave it try. Right now the result I’m getting if a very creamy/gold. How do I up the shininess and specularity of it?
Ok how would I go about exporting this texture back into Maya?
Material>Modifiers lets you adjust the material properties during MatCap.
As for getting it into Maya, you’re misunderstanding the difference between texture and material. A gold-colored texture won’t look like gold in Maya. That’s because texture doesn’t create specular, anisotropism, etc. That’s what the shader/material does.
Materials are instructions to the rendering engine for how to handle light. MatCap is a material that gives those instructions to ZBrush’s renderer based upon a light map that you can generate using the MatCap tool. But that only works in ZBrush. To get a gold metal effect in Maya, you would need to use Maya’s shader system. All you’re going to be able to get out of ZBrush is the diffuse channel. That’s just a fraction of the battle.
