Tiling a displacement texture?

Hi,

Is it possible to tile a loaded displacement map in the tools->displacement map tab somehow?
I know I can tile a texture via the uv map tab…but how would I bake that tiling into a map so I can use it in displ mode?
What if I want to add a displ map with multpile tiling to mesh?

Surface noise the only possibility?

Edit: I found a way by loading it as an alpha, tile it, export it as tiled map and reimport it as a displ map. Works but a bit cumbersome
