Thank you kaz.Can you help me once more though - on the first link you gave me they say ‘16x16 pixels and it should be saved as a Windows icon file (logo.ico for example)’ do you know what format on photoshop is windows compatible?

I think that a windows Icon file is just a .bmp file. Save it from Photoshop to a .bmp and change the extension to .ico. That should work.

Thanks for the links Kaz! I’ve been wondering about how to do this too. BTW, an ICO isn’t a renamed BMP, but there are plenty of ICO editers available.

microangelo is a neat little app for making custom icons.

I use IconMaker and IcoEdit.

Sorry, can’t rename a bmp to an ico format.

Here’s a link to everything/place you possibly need for icon creations:

I have to ask, are you sure about the bmp to ico thing. I just did it. I was then able to use the new file for an icon on one of my shortcuts.

Maybe it’s the other way around…

I’ve only made icons under contract situations, so I’ve not tried cheating the system. I wonder how that changed format would react under a GUI developement scenerio?

you can make your own icon in the address bar and when you save it as a short cut it still will be a Pic

Maybe if you make it a shortcut picture Windows converts it automaticly.
