This is a Sketchbook

i’ve wanted to start another sketchbook since i changed my username, but haven’t had much to show. i’m working on some stuff for my reel so i can start posting progress on those models and hopefully start doing some other studies and sketches soon.

anyway, these are the beginnings of two models I’m working on for my reel. the bust is actually the bust of an actor, i don’t think he’s very well known, but i think it at least resembles him(at least i hope). i want to see if anyone who knows of him can figure it out, so i won’t mention who it is unless someone gets it. the pores and stubble are just tests at the moment as i still want to work on the likeness/ expression a bit.

the centaur is actually based on a sketch i did while doing evolvecg’s hunter challenge(the head anyway). If there is one creature i love above all others it’s the classic centaur, so it will be my own version of a centaur. it’s obviously still pretty rough.

small update. just the blocking of the pose, still needs a lot of work but this is essentially the pose I’m going with, but perhaps some minor changes, we’ll see.

i haven’t worked on the bust (his hair is slicked down a bit more), but i think this in material/ lighting is looks more like him. anyone care to guess the unknown actors identity?

Santis - thanks! little update on the mystery actor. clearly still lots to do, but you can see i've started working a bit on the body. i'm not really that happy with it, but hopefully it'll get better. i'm happy that i at least know how i want to compose the model in an environment and how i want the end still image to look. hopefully more soon, cheers.

alright still need alot to do, just wanted to show i’ve changed the angle of the pose because i find it more interesting and put in a bow and arrow to visualize it all better. still working on the other model though.

alright, this model is more or less done. still need to do the shoes, then maybe a few touch ups. feel free to critique. if no one can figure out the actor/ film from this, i think it’s safe to assume you haven’t seen it. i think in my next post i’ll let link to the trailer or something. let me know what you think.

fyi - the question in German and is from my favorite scene in the film. “do we know each other?”

due to the overwhelming amount of no one guessing, i’ll just post the trailer. i recommend seeing it.it’s not for everyone, but it’s in my top 5 favorite films. hopefully you can recognize who my model is of. cheers

i can’t say i’m very happy with the likeness, but his look seems to vary somewhat in alot of my references and it’s not easy to find much reference on some random Austrian actor.

i might post some of the references and maybe a grab of him with just the tank top; in a way i like it better, but i’ll still probably use the shirt in the final renders. for now i’m working on the centaur, hopefull will post something on him soon.
